Why did I create LOWERS?

I felt compelled to create my LOWERS program because so many of us middle-aged badassess have hypertension and we simply aren’t aware of simple, natural, and long-lasting solutions to bring our blood pressure into a normal range. Honestly, most of us would like to ignore our blood pressure and hope it goes away! But we’re real enough to know that’s not how it works.

We also know that conventional medicine (aka the Sickcare System) is just going to throw a pill or two at us and expect us to take that prescription for the rest of our lives and just fade away. And no one wants that unless it’s absolutely necessary!

Who is Dr. Amber Belt?

Hey, I’m Amber Belt and I’ve been practicing as a naturopathic physician for 20 years. I’ve helped hundreds of patients lower their blood pressure and, as a side effect, have more energy, enjoy their lives more, and feel like themselves again. It’s amazing to help people get in control of their health, usually for the first time in decades!

Personally, I’ve also struggled with high blood pressure. My own health challenges really pushed me to dial in and clarify the way that I think about hypertension. As a result, I’ve created my signature LOWERS program that addresses high blood pressure by utilizing my unique, comprehensive, naturopathic approach.

At heart, I’m a Midwestern gal who is GenX at my core. I’m a huge dog lover, a lifelong athlete, a passionate believer in eating and shopping local, and adamant about taking ownership for my own health.  A few years ago I moved back to Kansas, where I grew up, so I could be closer to my family and to fulfill my dream of creating a little homestead of my own.

That’s the message I got from a patient just yesterday—and I LOVE these kinds of wins!

When I saw him two weeks ago, things weren’t looking so great. His blood pressure was up, his sleep was practically nonexistent, and his stress was at an all-time high. Sound familiar?

This patient has a history of high nighttime cortisol levels (aka one of our main stress hormones), which should naturally be at its lowest while you sleep. It’s a pretty common pattern that I see. When cortisol is stuck in overdrive because of stress, it can wreak havoc on your sleep and your blood pressure.

Luckily, we’ve worked together on his adrenal health before, so we already had a good handle on his cortisol pattern. I suggested some simple, powerful breathing techniques to calm and reset his nervous system, and I prescribed a supplement to bring his cortisol back down to where it belongs in the evening.

The result?

  • He’s sleeping through the night like a champ.
  • His blood pressure is back in the normal range.

Moral of the story? High blood pressure isn’t always about messed-up blood vessels. Stress and hormones can play a massive role, which is why balancing them is a core piece of my LOWERS protocol.
